Just another day in the magic bus

We woke up to no power this morning.

Normally, this isn't an issue. Sometimes, I even laugh a little, because we have an onboard generator, which means we have coffee when nobody else does.

This morning? It wouldn't start. Thank heaven the power came back on really quickly.

However, strong winds are predicted for this afternoon and evening. Which means we could lose power again. With a generator that won't start.

We haven't cranked it in months. shame on us. We also haven't treated the gas in the tank, nor have we added fresh gas and an additive to keep the gas from turning to petroleum jelly.

Y'all keep your fingers crossed that we don't lose power today. I'm going to go make myself some more coffee, just in case. It will take extra coffee to get through a day of temperatures around 80 (IN JANUARY, FOR FUCK'S SAKE) in what amounts to a really big car with really big greenhouse effects. We won't even think about how Sunshine is going to handle a shower with no hot water, because that's going to be ugly if it happens.

  1. Everything crossed for your power to come back on. 80 in a magic bus is like 115, right?
It's 1 degree here. Which is exactly why I don't live in Montana.

    1. Yes. 80 in a magic bus is like 115. The power is back on. For now. We are, however, in the watch area that has a 60% probability of experiencing 2 or more tornadoes this afternoon/evening. Good times, no?

    1. I can't decide who is more on edge: me or the dog. Do they make thundershirts for people?

  3. Oh my gosh Cindy, do you have some place safe to go if there are tornadoes? I'm reading this a day later, how did you fare in the high winds? Do you have power?

I don't like the wind. I especially don't like the wind when it's brutally cold but I don't like the wind no matter what the temp. I think the sound of the wind is unsettling and somehow I've managed to come to believe that the sound of the wind is the bringer of bad things. So, yeah I'm in for 2 thundershirts.

    1. We made it through the night. We actually got off fairly light. I've seen much worse damage from unwarned storms that "collapsed" over the town (the weatherman that replied to my email used the word collapsed).

And no, there is no storm shelter. Sunshine has actually debated getting the owner of the resort to let him build one here just for my piece of mind. (Sunshine is a brick mason who has constructed blast-proof arms vaults for the military). A storm shelter is also how he is trying to get me on board for buying land and building a house.
