Boredom

We all know that I have been broke as shit lately. It should probably go without saying that I am also bored shitless, too.

I finally got bored enough to get creative. I cleaned out the closet and pulled out some clothes that I would wear if they just had a little alteration done to them.

I started with a pair of white skinny jeans. Who wears white jeans? And when I ask who wears white jeans, I mean WHO THE FUCK WEARS WHITE JEANS IN THE REAL WORLD? So I dyed them grey. I cannot wait to wear them. I think I shall wear them to the meeting tomorrow night with some happy shoes in honor of my sponsor's 29th clean date anniversary.

I digress.

Boredom.

I also pulled three jackets out and sent them to the seamstress for alterations. When I get them back, I will post pictures.

I've found countless items that I love but don't wear because WHO THE FUCK WEARS WHITE WIDE-LEG PANTS IN THE REAL WORLD? I would totally wear these pants if I thought I could keep them white for more than .003 nanoseconds. i wore them once and had to take them to the cleaners the next day.

I'm also trying to figure out if I'm brave enough to try dying leather myself. I've got this hot-pink suede zip-up hoodie that has the greatest shape to it, and the fit is divine, and the leather is buttery soft and almost tissue thin and I would wear the hell out of the jacket if it weren't HOT PINK.  I used to wear hot pink, until my mother told me it clashed with my red hair. I want to dye it oxblood. (Oxblood is a pretentious word that means BURGUNDY.)

Does anybody have any tips on dying leather? Because I'm bored as shit and too broke to go buy an oxblood leather jacket.

  1. If you're really, really bored you can just pick up any Jean Auel novel. Her cavepeople cure leather with all sorts of (largely disgusting, but free) things. Plus her books are very long so that is good to kill time. And I agree that oxblood is a stupid word. I'm a 12-ish and look great in hot pink and have some good stuff from when I thought I could be a redhead. Maybe we could trade.

  2. Congrats to your sponsor. My father is sober 29 years as of this past November. I've promised him a party next November when God willing he'll be 80 years old and 30 years sober. I say go for it and if the burgundy doesn't quite work out you can probably dye it black and still save it.

    1. Oh, wow, big congrats and hugs to your father. That is so awesome, it gives me chills.
Also, good point about being able to go black and save the jacket. Sometimes, my imagination doesn't travel far enough outside the box.

  3. I know nothing about dyeing anything except hair. But I love what you're going to do with the jacket. Maybe it will look cute with your jeans?

    Congrats to your sponsor!

  4. I love you! You know that? I just do because you are you. I mean I read your words and it's like I'm reading in my own head. Take this right here:

"I would totally wear these pants if I thought I could keep them white for more than .003 nanoseconds."

That's me! I'd wear white, or maybe I'd buy white pants and *think* I'd wear them until I got them home and wore them once and be like oh shit, really? They actually get dirty, they don't do that on TV or in the movies! WTH??!!

Have a great weekend! Can't wait to see your pictures!!

    1. I just want to know how it is that we never see Victoria Beckham in white pants that have any stains on them. I hate her.

    1. The pants came out great. I'll have to remember to post a pic of how I style them now that they're a more realistically wearable color.
