An interesting experiment

OK, so some time ago I said that sometimes, Sunshine just needs a taco punch because he has gotten on this new "diet". I figured I'd talk about how the experiment is going, and answer Jen's question while I'm at it. (I wonder if she even remembers asking the question. Oh well, it's getting answered either way.)

I'll start with Sunshine's weight loss. When he first toyed with the idea of actually losing some weight, he gave up sugar-sodas. He replaced them with Coke Zero. He lost about ten pounds over a 9 month period, and then plateau-ed. So then his friend got him started on this new eating regimen that eliminated all the rest of the sugary, starchy shit from Sunshine's diet. It isn't Atkins, though; he does eat fruits and veggies, just no potatoes or cakes or anything like that. We even check the sugar content of the foods we buy, and make sure that it doesn't have more than a few grams of sugar per serving. (unless it is fruits or veggies, which are nothing but carbs which = sugar of a sort). He has dropped another 15 or 20 pounds in the last few months. (I can't be sure of the exact amount for several reasons: A-he hasn't mentioned his specific weight in a few weeks and B-he also just spent weeks on the couch with me because of weather/illness/lack of work.)

I also mentioned that GNC had suggested these non-stimulant-based fat burning pills, and Jen said "...tell me if those fat burning pills work. Just in case." Well, Sunshine hasn't been taking them. They do contain some caffeine, and he said they make him jittery, so he quit taking them after only a couple of days. (The fact that the pills made him jittery and make me feel a bit more energized and focused gets me into a whole "which came first" argument with myself about whether I was hyper before the dope, and self medicated; or if the dope fucked me up for good and now I am just hyper and scattered as a result; however, that is irrelevant to today's discussion.)

All is not lost, though. I, too, have been stuck on the couch for weeks due to weather/Sunshine's illness/lack of funds for gas. Which means that I had gotten a little bigger than I was before the holidays. So, I dug to the back of Sunshine's stash of pills and broke out those fat burning pills and started taking them.

ehrmahgerd, those pills would choke a horse. They are literally fucking huge. However, they are gel-caps, so even my easily gagged ass can get them down.

People, the pills seem to be working. No shit, for real, true story, this ain't no bullshit. I'm not sure that I have lost any weight (pounds-wise), but I can tell you for sure that I have started feeling tighter and slimmer through the middle after a couple of weeks. An added benefit is that I just feel like I have more energy (probably the additional caffeine they have added to my daily routine), and I don't seem to be responding to boredom by stuffing cookies in mah mouth. So, in my not-so-expert opinion, the pills seem to be working.

So, Jen, thermo CLA is what they are called. And they seem to be working, without taking me to that dark place where I used to live (that place that had me convinced that eating a single cracker constituted a day's worth of food and sitting in the floor organizing my handbag for six hours was normal).

It's an interesting experiment, if nothing else. And it perhaps answered Jen's question.

Now, anybody else got any questions to ask? It's easier to think of what to write about when you guys ponder and pose questions.

  1. I'm glad it's working for you, Cindy. You just made me look it up out of curiosity and it's rated pretty high. Go You!

    1. As a recovering addict, I can assure you I did a little googling myself before I stuck those horse pills in my mouth.

  2. Must. Buy. Horse. Pills.

Do not go to the dark place. Which, I can tell you, can also be found at the bottom of the cookie box.

I love it when you answer my questions!

    1. Yes, the dark place can indeed be found at the bottom of the cookie box.

  3. Have you seen the fish oil pills? I'd like to add those to my daily vitamins but fear I'll need the Heimlich Maneuver while I'm trying not to choke on them.

    1. Sunshine has fish oil pills he is supposed to be taking to help lower his blood pressure (which is ridiculously astronomically high). I just got up and looked at them, and I can promise you that the fat burner pills are at least twice the size of the fish oil pills.
